ALEX WRIGHT CONTAINS MULTITUDES

’86 TO INFINITY

The Sorted Static & Dead Channel Dreams of Alex Wright

White Noise

By: Alex Wright

The Southern sprawl I sank in
Is fast asleep in the Dream Land
I’m up with anxious cats
The foul-mouthed fire alarm screaming,
“I’ve been down here dead for days!”
I could save it for a change
Or lie awake and
Wait for it to
Burn out or fade away

It’s either danger, love, or pain
Coursing through my veins
Each one a different version of the same

Something sent my spirit searching
For some kind of sign
A signal fire
Strange spectrums singing in the skies
A message from the morrow
Saying, “Everything is fine.
Just breathe.”

It seems I’ve found that place that feels
Just like where I’m supposed to be
On Eastside streets with rain-drenched hair
Hand in hand to lose time in the trees
You’ve got to take your chances
Keep your chin up, child
You’ll never know what tomorrow brings
Throwing in the towel tonight
Our days are numbered despite shielded eyes
So be grateful for the revelry
Reminding you you’re still alive

Something sent my spirit searching
For what? I can’t define
A voice through white noise
That I’ve heard through all my life
Asking me to follow
Assuring everything’s alright

Just breathe.
