“Get out of your head,
get into the car,” she said.
Tossed the keys
To my feet
Shaking unclean sheets
On our bed
Wrestling with decisions made
Or left untamed
To winter storms
Soon blessed with names
So we have something
To scream to the heavens
As we damn feeling sorry
For lost days
Forgotten nights
Mistaken fears
Begotten lives
Listen when I tell you,
“We’ve always been just fine,
Right where we’re supposed to be
Taking in the essence
Essentially enthralled
With everything that’s happening now.
And oh, how it’s happening!”
Happiness in full swing
Sweet somethings whispered
Through the evergreens
