Spent the end of the Summer
Watching moons change from rooftops
The only thing left to remind us
Time’s not standing still
It’s been slipping up your spine
Swimming circles in your eyes
Starting unexpected circumstances
To steal your bedroom lights
You’re giving me another
Look I’ll later wonder
If I was first to discover
Or do you keep it in your pocket for nights like these?
When the road’s not far away
You can make your quick escape
Toward unsuspecting city boys
Down to make mistakes
They’re screaming out your name
But there’s no one here to blame
For this long lost box of feelings
Maybe better left misplaced
The porch is passing secrets
You never thought I’d know
So starved for situation
Making a new one of our own
While the party’s in the kitchen
I’m lip-locked with a ghost
That’s filled with good intention
Still searching for their home
In some other city’s arms
Far away from Southern charms
Sleep-walking their way into
Somebody else’s heart
